A Roman Holiday…

My tan might be fading and I may now be back sat in my flat in little old Oxford listening to the torrential rain pelting my window but for now I’m going to reminisce and pretend I’m back basking in the glorious Italian sun…

ROME…. WHERE DO I BEGIN??

We were away for a week which meant plenty of time for wine, food and limoncello but also time to see all of the amazing sights that I had jotted down on a list that was longer my arm by the time we were ready to jet off.

If any of you are like me, I like to be prepared, probably over prepared which equates to hideous amounts of clothing being packed (I like options!) along with copious amounts of medicine and suncream supplies to last 10 years (still managed to get sunburnt…).

On that note I’m going to start with talking about outfit choices. I absolutely adore the heat and wish it was glorious sunshine everyday of the year but my body does not agree with me on this one and I struggle with clothing choices to keep cool. So this year I am ever so grateful that we are seeing the return of the midi…

The midi length skirt is my dream length, it keeps you cool and covered but adds a touch of chic and class to any outfit without the danger of looking frumpy. I love teaming any of my midi skirts with a slogan tee, like the one above from Fan Club Clothing. This clash of vintage with modern makes for a dreamy combination that is a instant winner and perfect for long days exploring Roma. It’s a win win situation in my book and 90% of my suitcase was filled with this length skirt and hideous amounts of trusty slogan tees.

Whilst I’m on the topic of comfort, I feel I have to mention, and couldn’t complete this post without mentioning, my trusty and ever so dreamy Saltwater Sandals. These shoes are a LIFESAVER…  Summer shoes are another area in which I struggle immensely. Yet again my body fails me and during summer months my feet like to expand to the size of a Hobbit’s and normal human sized shoes give me about 21,876 blisters which is not much fun. I was absolutely overjoyed when I heard about Saltwaters, from my boss at work (mahooosive thanks!) and through other bloggers that I follow, such as Sophia Rosemary rocking an amazing white pair. They are the most comfortable sandals I have ever owned and were such a good buy for this trip, I would muchos recommend…

To round off this well overdue blog post (has it really been nearly a month since I went?!?!) I’m going to spam you all with a load of photos of absolutely stunning Italian views of my favourite places we visited whilst we were there. If you haven’t been to Italy before let this give you an idea of what it’s like there, you probably don’t need reminding that it’s bloody beaut….

Longing for some Italian sun yet….? Yeah, me too….

Love,
Molly Catherine
